Worlds Hottest Hot Sauce Is A Pepper Extract That Can KillThis Hot Sauce is so hot, you'd have to gulp 250,000 gallons of water just to put out the fire."We live in an extreme world," describes Blair Lazar, a hot sauce inventor. "And I make extreme foods. ' In his palm of his hand is the most blistering pepper extract in the world, an over-the-top version of pepper concentrate so blistering that customers must sign a waiver clearing him of any liability if they are crazy enough to try it.Locked in a crystal bottle sealed with wax and a tiny skull, Mr Lazar's lip-scorching concoction is pure capsaicin - the chemical that gives habanero and jalapeno peppers their atomic heat. Blair Lazar claims to try his sauce is to encounter pure heat His "16 Million Reserve", which is released to the public in 2006, is the brass ring of "hot sauce" s, the most blistering pepper extract that chemistry can create. It is 30 times hotter than the hottest pepper, the Red Savina from Mexico, and 8,000 times more powerful than Tabasco sauce. To put the smallest dot on the tip of your tongue is to encounter "pure heat", Mr Lazar says. Although capsaicin does not actually burn - it tricks your brain into thinking that you are in pain by exciting nerve endings in your mouth - some health specialists think that it might kill an asthmatic or hospitalize a user who touched his eyes or different susceptible parts of the anatomy. Mr Lazar has trained his taste buds to endure the feeling, but he remembers the instant he decided to try his "16 Million Reserve" himself. "The pain was exquisite," he said. "It was like having your tongue hit with a hammer. Man, it hurt. My tongue swelled up and it hurt like hell for days. " The Scoville Scale measures the heat of peppers. The eye-watering merits of peppers are measured in globally Scoville units, established by Wilbur Scoville, an American chemist who, in 1912, asked panelists to evaluate how many parts of sugar water it took to remove the heat.Today, capsaicin content is measured in parts per million, using a procedure recognized as high-performance liquid chromatography; one part being equivalent to 15 Scoville units. Benign bell peppers rate zero Scoville units and the Red Savina joined Guinness World Records at 570,000 units. Pure capsaicin, meanwhile, has a heat score of 16 million units - moving the name for Mr Lazar's latest innovation. Each of the 999 limited-issue bottles, priced at $289, comprises of just a few crystals. The concentrate is so strong, though, that Mr Lazar approximates that it would have to be dissipated in 250,000 gallons of water before it might no longer be tasted. His calling as a hot sauce inventor began when he established that the best way to remove people under the influence out of his seaside bar was to give them free chicken wings immersed in an eye-watering home-made hot sauce. Now he owns and manages Extreme Foods in New Jersey, marketing his existing assortment of sauces, including "Mega Death" and "Jersey Death", the second, according to Mr Lazar, being the world's most blistering usable hot sauce. He maintains a refrigerator full of purified water in his headquarters for those courageous enough to try some of the sauces. Most testers sweat severely and are powerless to see through their tears for up to half an hour. It takes many tons of crisp peppers to produce 1lb of capsaicin for the 16 Million Reserve, and the work takes months. First, wetness is separated from the crisp peppers until a thick tar-like substance is left. The process by which all additional impurities are removed, leaving pure capsaicin concentrate, is classified, but the work takes place in a research laboratory where Mr Lazar and his team wear sealed outfits with masks to steer clear of inhaling the dust. Several years ago Mr Lazar developed "2am Reserve" in of the hour at which he once closed his bar. It was hotter than any other hot sauce creation on the market, measuring up to 900,000 Scoville units. He then distilled even more powerful extracts, including the scorching "6am Reserve" at 10 million units. Most of the signed and numbered bottles of "16 Million Reserve" will be purchased by hot sauce addicts recognized as chile heads.Buyers have to agree to a rider cautioning that any handling "must be under a controlled environment using protective and protective eye wear". "It cant be used for flavor," says Mr Lazar. "The only purpose is its heat value." He prefers not to guess on what might happen should anyone be crazy enough to down a whole flask. Rinsing the mouth with milk is among the best cures as it binds to fat molecules; it will also dissipate in alcohol.

How To Avoid Purchasing A Flood-Damaged Vehicle

How To Avoid Purchasing A Flood-Damaged Vehicle

Although it is in your best interest to purchase a used car as opposed to saddling yourself with the huge monthly payment and insurance rates inherent in buying a new car, there are certain things one must consider when taking the plunge. You have to consider what has happened to the car during its lifetime with its previous owner or owners, as the case may be. You probably already know that you should beware of a damaged axle in the case of a collision, for instance. What you may not be accustomed to thinking about, however, is the possibility that the car may have been in a flood. If you are wondering what the big deal is about floods and cars meeting up, just consider what it would be like for 10 feet of water to make its way into your house. For one thing, your upholstery is going to be ruined. Because it is very difficult to get all the water out of something like a couch (or the front seat of a car), the upholstery may suffer from long-term moisture, which will lead to mold. In the case of cloth upholstery especially, soaking may damage the shape or the overall quality of the materials. Dye may even run.Think about how being drowned will affect your electronics. These may or may not be able to dry out completely, a situation that can lead to nasty shorts in the system. There is no reason to believe that drowned electronics will ever work properly again. You can see where this is going your car is a one-ton mass of electronics. One of the easiest ways to tell whether a car has been in a flood is by climbing in and taking a good sniff for the scent of mildew. In addition, floods often cause car liquids like gasoline and oil to make their way to the fabrics as well, and those smells will likely be present. If it is apparent that someone has gone to great lengths to disguise the car's smell, such as applying too much air freshener or New Car Smell, then that is cause for suspicion.Another sign that a car has gone for a dip is dirt and moisture trapped inside the lights. This is very easy to check for, but it is also easy to overlook unless you make a special point to check. Other telltale places to check are inside the glove box and in the trunk, not to mention beneath the hood. One very clever thing that you can do is check to see if the automobile components match. If an automobile has been given the emergency room treatment and had its components stereo, seats, carpet, et cetera changed very quickly, then that is a sign that it could have suffered flood damage.Of course, you can never be completely certain a seller is being completely legitimate about the car's history with you, but being armed with even a little bit of knowledge really decreases the likelihood that you will make costly mistakes.

One common detox diet is the combination of nothing but fruits and water for a given period. The promotion of chemicals being matabilized by our bodies can be helped with certain vitamins, herbs and supplements. Some supplements will help the mobilization of toxin's in our fat and other toxin deposit's located throughout the body.Whilst on your travels in Spain and pausing to take a breath from site-seeing, you have surely experimented with "tapas" at a welcoming bar.If this is the case, it is more than likely that you have come across the small, tasty filleted fish, preserved in olive oil, sliced garlic and chopped parsley, and highly popular throughout Spain. This delectable dish is usually known as "boquerones" but, depending on the area, can also be called "anchoas".Boquerones are small, fresh anchovies. Accompanied by crisp, fresh Spanish bread, a glass of ruby-red wine or refreshing Asturian cider, they are a delight to eat. Moreover - as with many traditional Spanish dishes which comprise the renowned Mediterranean Diet - they are extremely healthy.Like its friend the sardine, the anchovy is an oily fish, packed full of proteins and minerals, protecting against heart disease, and "good" for cholesterol. Whats more, in many areas of Spain - in particular the Mediterranean coast - fresh anchovies are extremely cheap. On first coming to Spain, I happily enjoyed many tapas of boquerones, completely unaware of one fact ... all those little anchovies I had eaten were not cooked! For a moment, I deeply regretted asking my Spanish neighbor, Carmen, how to make them!Fortunately, Carmen went into immediate action and saved the day! She frog-marched me to the local fishmongers, bought a kilo of the little fish, took me home and showed me "her way" of preparing them. They were so delicious that I quickly recovered my passion for boquerones and have been enjoying them ever since! Methods for preparing boquerones tend to vary slightly from family to family. However, the basic principles are always the same. You first have to clean and fillet the fish, which is simple enough, but rather tedious until you get the hang of it.If you suffer with acne, or if your skin is dull, rough or blotchy, a detox could be exactly what you need. Other symptoms of toxic overload can be lethargy and frequent headaches or simply feeling below par. Detoxing will not only help your skin but the other major elimination organ, the liver. In fact your whole system will benefit!Next, you soak the fillets, either in white wine vinegar or a mixture of half vinegar and half water. The vinegar will clean and bleach the fish and also soften any remaining little bones. Some people sprinkle the fish with salt; others (myself included) feel that the fish is salty enough already. The fish has to be left for a good few hours soaking in the vinegar. Again, this tends to vary, with some Spaniards leaving them overnight in the fridge and others just waiting a couple of hours. Also, some families change the vinegar/water-and-vinegar mixture once during this process, whilst others dont bother.Once you have thrown away the vinegar, the bleached fillets are covered with a good quality virgin olive oil, which will preserve them. You can add as much, or as little, sliced garlic as you wish, plus freshly chopped parsley. So ... here is the actual recipe.BOQUERONESIngredients:* 1 kilo fresh anchovies.* White wine vinegar.* Virgin olive oil.* Garlic.* Parsley.* Salt (optional).Method:1. Top and tail anchovies.2. Slit along underside and discard innards.3. Open out fish.4. Remove central bone by lifting from tail end upwards.5. Rinse well.6. Place a layer of anchovy fillets in a shallow dish.7. Sprinkle with salt (optional) and pour on plenty of vinegar.8. Repeat with another layer, changing direction.9. Leave to soak in vinegar for a few hours or overnight.10. Pour off vinegar.11. Very gently rinse fillets.12. Cover fillets in virgin olive oil.13. Add slices of garlic and chopped parsley. As one of the most common causes of lethargy is constipation, learn more about colon detox todayIt is so pleasant to find something in life that is a delight to the senses, affordable, healthy and does nobody any harm (apologies to any vegetarians out there and, also, the little anchovies ...). So ... do make the most of fresh anchovies whilst you are in Spain and enjoy! The human body is like one big process of input and output. Some things we intake such as food and water which the body requires diffuse into the body; we then pass the by-products which are of no use, or surplus to the body's requirements. Drugs, on the other hand, diffuse almost entirely into the body as this is what they are designed to do.

Espresso's Good, But Why Decaffeinated Coffee?

Espresso

I love above all else to drink coffee, but I am still totally baffled why anyone would drink decaffeinated varieties. What about the needed and pleasurable caffeine rush? What would possess anyone in his or her right state of mind to give up on a good espresso for that dribble? Does this not take away the whole reason for drinking a decent cup of delicious coffee? I was soon to learn why this drudgery even existed. As I discovered pregnancy, I quickly developed a new taste for it. In fact, strangely enough, I actually really started to like it for the flavor alone. Weird, right? Hormonal reaction, maybe? That may have been a possibility, but you should read the rest.Unfortunately, for everyone else, I cannot resist the insatiable urge to learn absolutely everything there is to know about pregnancy and how to avoid all known complications, diseases and anything, even the bubonic plague. Science said to avoid aspartame because how much of it was harmful was unknown. Luncheon meat was out because of a possible infection from listeria. Caffeine was the biggest fear – possible miscarriage. The fact is that you have to consume a minimum of three portions of normal coffee each day to do this, but it frightened me enough to settling for decaffeinated drinks and simple sodas. Then, reaching my half-term point, I was horrified to discover through some television coverage that some decaffeinated varieties from coffeehouses may not be as caffeine free as they had claimed. Of course, it is obvious that there was some fractional amount of caffeine left in my drinks. However, I never dreamt that I was consuming close to that in the regular drinks. Then I discovered something else. In almost 60% of cases, the caffeine concentration in decaf was no different from the regular. As if that wasnt enough, scientists discovered that the problem lay in a cross-brewing process or the very brewing machines that had not been cleaned properly after the last batch. Normally that would not be a problem. However, in my case that was out of the question.I understand now that during pregnancy my instincts to protect my unborn child left me now mad enough to eliminate any coffee types from my diet altogether, unless I made it myself. My pregnancy was to go undisturbed with any hint of decaf and that it frankly didnt help my moods during my last trimester.

Food And Drink

Food and drink have become a major part of most peoples lives, in particular their social lives. In fact the phrase food and drink produces over 89 million hits on the Google website. Excessiveness in either is of course unhealthy, but perhaps this is one of the reasons why people see good food or good wine as something special, something to treat themselves with.Guides to good food, wine and restaurants have become big business. Egon Ronay's Guide to the Best Restaurants and Gastropubs in the UK which provides detailed reviews of over 500 restaurants and gastropubs has sold over 2 million copies. Its simple to compare style of awarding up to three stars to each restaurant is clearly a hit with readers. The Good Food Guide edited by Elizabeth Carter sells itself as Britains leading restaurant guide and is currently in it 56th edition, detailing over 1,500 eateries from gastropubs to high end dining.Fine wine guides are also a big seller, with books such as Clarkes 'Fine Wine Guide: A Connoisseur's Bible' and Johnson-Bell's 'Good Food, Fine Wine: A Practical Guide to Finding the Perfect Match' both readily available on the internet it is clear that there is a high demand for such guides. This is not surprising as the United Kingdom is the second largest importer of wine in the world. Wine sales in the UK increased 25% between 2001 and 2005. In 2004 the estimated wine consumption was 1.2 billion litres. In particular there has been an increase in the consumption of so-called New World wines, for example those from Australia or the USA instead of traditional producers such as France. California now produces 2 billion litres of wine every year, making it the fourth biggest producer behind Italy, France and Spain. In 2004, New World wines accounted for over 55% of total consumption in the UK. Exports of Australian wines have more than quadrupled in the last decade to reach nearly 800 million litres in 2006, 22% of which went onto the UK market, approximately 176 million litres.Exports of New Zealand wines to the UK alone have increased from 8.1 million litres in 1997 to 21.9 million litres in 2006.One factor in the explanation of this is an increase in the availability of fine wine in many supermarkets. Some figures place two-thirds of UK wines sales in supermarkets. Increased demand and competition between large chain supermarkets have increased the variety of wines and producers and made them more accessible to the general public.A recent report by Vinexpo has predicted that the UK will become Europe's biggest market for wine by 2010. The report which examined the worlds wine producers and consumers also predicted that by 2010 the UK wine sales would be worth 5.5 billion, despite the fact that the UK paid the highest average price per bottle (3.11), which is equivalent to 28.5 litres per capita compared to an average of 27 litres between 2001 and 2005.The report also showed that between 2001 and 2005 Australia had overtaken France as the UK's biggest supplier with imports rising 51%. Imports from countries such as the USA and South Africa have also risen during this period which highlights the trend toward New World wines.
